Most active professionals who care about their longevity and simply doing a good job in their daily lives will care about their health pillars, be that eating well, exercising, or sleeping with a good routine.
But it’s also true that no body of water is still forever. Sooner or later things happen to influence us and our balance, and that’s not always a good thing. From a testing client to a business deal that falls through, even the most professional of us are still human beings and are still liable to feel stressed from time to time.
You may have good home habits to help bust this stress, like going for a run, meditating or just staying away from alcohol. But what about during the workday? What if you have a great deal to manage, and not enough time to manage it? In this post, I’ll discuss all of that and more:
Take Mini-Breaks
When your workday feels like a never-ending marathon of tasks, it’s genuinely essential to incorporate mini breaks to recharge. These short pauses can be as simple as stepping away from your desk for a few minutes to stretch or taking a brief walk around the office. Don’t underestimate the absolute restoration of these small moments—they can help clear your mind, alleviate tension, and improve focus, which in the middle of a stressful day can be a lifesaver. Plus, they provide a much-needed breather during the chaos, allowing you to tackle your tasks with renewed energy and not make any decisions out of frustration you regret.
Practice Mindfulness
Who says you need a serene meditation room to practice mindfulness? During hectic workdays, you can cultivate mindfulness anywhere, even amidst the hustle and bustle of the office. You just have to take a moment to focus on your breath, ground yourself in the present moment, and count to ten. Give yourself that time. All of a sudden you center yourself and can begin again.
You can do this anytime. It doesn’t matter if you’re waiting for an elevator, standing in line for coffee, or sitting in a meeting, using these opportunities of time to gather yourself and reduce stress makes a big difference.
Try These Self-Care Habits
Everyone has their preferred method of relaxation, and that can apply to work. That might involve sipping a cup of herbal tea, listening to calming music during your commute, or keeping CBD for when you need to focus in relaxation, find moments throughout the day to pamper yourself, it really does work.
Remember that these small acts of self-care can act as anchors, grounding you more during an intensive day. When you have a few habits to rely on, you know that there’s always a crutch out there if things become a little too intense, and if the grinding day in day out drudgery feels a bit too much. Moreover, relaxing a bit will help you realize that actually, working on your goals isn’t that bad at all, which helps you avoid feeling negative.
