Easy and Healthier Apple Crisp
This healthier apple crisp recipe is so easy to make and is vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free.
Ingredients
Apple Filling
- 4-5 Honeycrisp Apples (or granny smith)
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
Crisp Topping
- 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats
- 1/4 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup coconut oil room temperature
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Lightly grease a baking dish/pan with some coconut oil.
- Peel, core, and slice apples. Toss them in a bowl and add some lemon juice to prevent your apples from browning.
- To the bowl of apples add the maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix together until the apples are covered. Add the apple filling to a baking pan/dish and set aside.
- In another bowl, add oats, almond flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Mix together.
- Then add coconut oil to the oat mixture. Use a fork to mash coconut oil in with the mixture until it has a crumbly consistency.
- Evenly sprinkle crisp topping over the apple filling.
- Bake in the oven for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool and enjoy!
Notes
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days.
