When you hear the phrase invest in yourself, what do you think of?
Does your mind immediately jump to investing in real estate, purchasing a car, or paying college tuition in order to earn an impressive degree?
I would wager a bet that investing in yourself is not one of the first things that crossed your mind.
Investing in yourself is one of the best investments you can make.
Why?
Well, when you pour into yourself, you become a fuller, better version of who you are.
This makes you a better friend, partner, mother, daughter, etc.
You can either invest your time, money, or both to strengthen your weak areas and form healthy habits.
10 Ways You Can Invest in Yourself
1. Sign up for a gym membership or an online workout program
Your health is a very important thing to invest in.
Sure, you are going to need to motivate yourself to workout, but sometimes just paying that membership fee is all the motivation you need to get your booty in gear.
Your body is the only one you are ever going to get, so you might as well take good care of it!
2. Invest in your business
If you do not have a business, then there are plenty of other viable options for you on this list.
However, if you are a proud business owner, then you should invest in what you have built!
You can do this through online education courses, hiring a virtual assistant, purchasing new gear or equipment, and so much more.
Just think, if you aren’t willing to pour money into your own business, then why would someone want to hire you? (Other than the fact that you are awesome, of course).
3. Take a class for fun at a local community college or register for an online course
You should always be pursuing education, well beyond high school and college.
However, the education you pursue does not always have to relate to your profession.
What’s wrong with just taking a class for fun?!
There are plenty of noncredit courses available at community colleges, and you can also find an online course to take on a site like Skillshare.
You can take up yoga, painting, photography, and so much more! The opportunities are endless.
4. Sign up for a meal delivery service
Back to that whole health topic…your health is one of the most important areas of your life that you can invest in.
Meal delivery services are rapidly growing in popularity, and it’s for a good reason.
Meal delivery services can save you time and ensure that you get a satisfying, healthy meal without buying excess food. Sometimes, they can also save you money in the end too!!

5. Invest in a life coach or therapist
You can’t always get through life on your own, and quite frankly, you should not have to.
There are so many professionals out there who want to help you overcome difficult times and live your best life.
Life coaches and therapists have different educational backgrounds and specialties, so figure out what is best for you.
Investing in your mental health and clarity is a great place to put your time and money.
6. Plan a solo trip
Have you ever traveled alone?
If you have, you probably know that it is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences ever.
Sure, dining alone at a restaurant might sound daunting at first, but traveling alone can lead to some important self-discovery.
You really learn a lot about who you are, what your soul is craving, and who you wish to become.
Whether you want to fly across the world alone or just take a weekend road trip on your own, traveling solo will change your perspective on life.
7. Buy some new personal development books and take the time to read them
Do you wish you could finally stop being a procrastinator?
Maybe you constantly feel like you are reaching burnout, and you don’t know how to stop it.
Whatever issue you are dealing with, there is probably a personal development book out there for it.
Books are not expensive (and hey, they are free from a library!!), so the biggest investment here is your time.
Even just dedicating 10 minutes a day to reading a personal development book can be life-changing, and it is a great way to start or end your day on the right foot.
8. Get a subscription to a meditation app
Sure, you can use the free version of meditation apps too.
However, you will receive many more features and are more likely to use the app if you get a paid version!
Some popular meditation apps include Headspace and Insight Timer.
These apps are fantastic because you can choose from a variety of lengths and topics for the meditations.
It is an easy way to take them on the go and fit them into your busy schedule!
9. Join an accountability group
Joining a community that pushes you to be your best self is one way you can really lean into who you were meant to be.
Accountability groups include a vast majority of things, including group coaching programs, masterminds, fitness groups, and more.
Is there a certain area of your life that needs accountability?
Perhaps you need some extra motivation as it pertains to business, parenting, fitness, mental wellness, etc.
Do a quick Google search, and I guarantee you can find an accountability group to join in the area of your choosing!
10. Treat yourself every once in a while
No, I am not saying go wild on Amazon once a week ordering a million things that, let’s face it, you really don’t need.
I am saying that making yourself a priority is important, and treating yourself is one way you can do that.
You can use this as a reward system for getting closer and closer to your goals.
Or, you can just decide you are going to go shopping or get a massage or get your nails done once a month to unwind.
Final Thoughts
As you can see, there are many different ways to invest in yourself, whether that is your fitness, health, mental wellness, community, and so much more.
Work these different ways into your daily life because you, my friend, are worthy of investing in yourself.

The time I enjoy most is with my Bible study group. We can laugh, relax, and learn at the same time. It is so important to work in time for you each day. We live in such a busy world, that we need to stop and recharge for just a few minutes daily.
Michelle says
Sounds like an amazing and calming time Gina. I agree it definitely is necessary!

Love this post! I feel so guilty investing in my “business” when it’s not a business yet. I took the Blogging Blastoff course and loved it. You’re the second person who has recommended the Pinterest Avalanche course. I can’t believe your views increased by that much! And I’ll have to check out the monetization course as well as I haven’t gotten my feet wet in that area yet. Thanks for all the great tips!
Michelle says
Thanks Chelsea! Yes, that Pinterest course is so very helpful and they actually update it every time Pinterest makes any algorithm changes. If you want to know more about it before committing just hit me up or any questions or concerns about it. š
