Our world today moves fast—there’s no denying that and sometimes it might be hard to find inner peace.
We constantly receive the message to work harder, do more, take on another task or project, and there’s rarely time to slow down.
You may reach the end of your day feeling like you were bounced around from one thing to the next, so much so that your head is spinning.
With hustle culture comes overwhelm, burnout, and true exhaustion—all things that have a negative impact on your health, wellness, and business.
With this in mind, it’s important to be able to find inner peace and calm among the hustle. This is how you can truly tune into your own intuition and feel content with where you are, in a world that tells you to keep wanting more.
What is inner peace?
You are confident that you want to find peace and calm in your life. The first step is understanding what true inner peace means.
Inner peace is when you feel absolutely calm and content while being in the present moment. You aren’t thinking about the past, and you’re not stressing about the future. You are aware of everything currently going on in your world, and you accept it.
You know your beliefs and values and priorities, and you believe in yourself enough to keep them at the forefront of your mind.
This deep feeling of peace isn’t surface level; instead, you feel it throughout your whole body.
How to Find Inner Peace
The path to finding inner peace may not be a straight one for you. Instead, it could involve many twists and turns and ups and downs.
Give yourself grace throughout this process and journey.
Every step you take, no matter how small, is still a step forward.
Notice the sensations in your body
Making the conscious choice to pay attention to the present is one of the first steps to finding inner peace.
Take a moment (or multiple throughout your day) to acknowledge the sensations in your body.
Become aware of your breathing, the feeling of your feet on the ground, and any sounds, sights, or smells in your surroundings.
This practice will help you become more present.
Bring awareness to your thoughts or feelings
Just as it’s important to notice the feelings in your physical body, it’s important to notice your thoughts and feelings in your mind.
Check in with yourself daily—how do you really feel?
Are you stressed, anxious, present, or calm?
Being able to process your thoughts and feelings as they happen will help you find peace and calm.
Spend time outside in nature
There’s nothing quite as grounding as spending time in nature.
Walk in the grass barefoot, feel the sunshine on your skin, and breathe in the fresh air.
This time outside will boost your serotonin levels, which can help you find the peace you are craving in your life.
Practice self-care
Self-care comes in many different forms, so choose the one that resonates most with you.
This may look like reading a book, cooking healthy meals, taking a bubble bath, going for a walk, or something entirely different.
Pay attention to what your body needs, and respond accordingly.
This not only will increase your self-love, but it also will reduce stress.
Incorporate mindfulness techniques like meditation and yoga into your day
Practicing mindfulness techniques is a great way to promote more calm and peace in your life.
These different activities allow you to focus on the present moment and clear your mind.
Meditation is a simple way to find more stillness in your day.
You can also try yoga, journaling, going for a walk, or listening to soft music.
Listen to positive podcasts
You probably consume a lot of content during your day, so ask yourself if the content is adding or taking away your peace.
Limit the negativity that you allow in by monitoring what you consume.
The news may be affecting your peace, so instead turn to positive podcasts.
You can listen to podcasts that share inspiring stories, teach self-care and self-love, or share positive affirmations.
There are many different options, so choose what captures your attention!
Limit your screen time
It’s so easy to get stuck in the scroll trap.
You may find yourself struggling with anxiety, comparison, and limiting beliefs due to what you see on social media.
Setting a screen time limit helps you to minimize these negative effects, which can help you find more peace.
Instead of vicariously living through other people’s lives, you’ll have more time to find joy in your own.
Find joy in the simple moments
Speaking of finding joy in your own life, you don’t need big, life-altering moments to occur for that to happen.
Pay attention to those small, simple moments like a sunrise, the first sip of morning coffee, or receiving a hug from a loved one.
There is joy to be found in these moments, and recognizing that will help you find inner peace.
Practice gratitude
Even if everything in life isn’t going as planned, there are still things to be grateful for.
You can feel grateful for your home, your health, your dog, and even your cozy sweater that you wear every day.
Gratitude is practice, because the more you do it, the more things you will notice to be grateful for.
Accept and appreciate where you are in life
True inner peace and calm come from feeling comfortable with where you are in life.
That doesn’t mean that you don’t strive for more, but it simply means that you accept where you’re at is a part of your journey.
When you’re able to accept and appreciate the place in life that you find yourself in, you’ll feel at peace about moving toward where you’re headed.
Final Thoughts
The more you follow these tips and stay present in your day-to-day, the easier it will be for you to feel peaceful and calm in your own life.
Achieving this may be a challenge, but it will pay off in the end for you and your happiness—and for those around you.
