Sleep is important for your well-being. When you sleep your body is able to rest, repair, and recharge.
A good night’s rest not only helps your physical and mental health but it helps you be more productive.
In this post, I wanted to share some products that you can consider buying if you need help with sleeping better.
Don’t feel like you need to buy everything all at once. I would suggest just adding one or a couple of things at a time to see how it works, if it makes a difference in your sleep and overall well-being, and then go from there.
I know that you probably know the importance of sleep but sometimes you may fall short of it when you are busy growing your business, feeling stressed out, or just have a lot on your mind.
So, first, let me remind you about the benefits of a good night’s sleep.
Benefits of a Good Night’s Sleep
There are many amazing benefits including:
- feeling more alert and energized during the day
- being able to focus better
- reduces stress levels
- feeling less irritable
- improves your memory and concentration
- increases productivity
- boosts the immune system & helps with inflammation
These are just to name a few amazing benefits.
Just know that a lack of sleep can negatively affect all areas of your life and well-being.
An average person should aim for around 7-9 hours of sleep per night but remember we are all different so you just need to learn the optimal amount that works for you.
Now that I went over why sleep is important, here are some tools to consider buying to help your quality of sleep and help you rest better.
Things to Consider Buying for Better Sleep
1. Magnesium
Magnesium is a mineral and a vital nutrient that has a ton of benefits and one of them is improving the quality of sleep. I recently started taking a magnesium supplement about 30mins -1hour before bedtime & it has helped to relax my muscles, calm my nervous system, and now I rest so much better throughout the night.
When it comes to taking magnesium you can either absorb it by the skin by soaking in an Epsom salts bath or taking a magnesium supplement. Whichever you prefer, they are both beneficial.
*Disclaimer: Talk to your doctor/health care professional to determine if magnesium is right for you
2. Loftie Clock
Loftie is such a great brand and they are dedicated to creating a better tech-life balance for people everywhere.
The Loftie clock is a simple and smarter alarm clock so that you don’t have to depend on your smartphone. Goodbye blue light and mindless strolling before bed.
But, it’s not just an alarm clock it has guided meditations, sound baths, breathwork exercises, playlists to help you rest, and other relaxing sounds.
3. Intelligent Change Night Notes
Night notes is such a great journal that can help you have peaceful nights.
You can reflect on your days, write down creative ideas that come to your mind and write out your tomorrow’s to-do’s so you can free your mind, and have a clear action plan for tomorrow.
Rest peacefully knowing that you have everything written down.
4. Sleepytime teas
Adding a sleepy-time tea is a great addition you can add to your nighttime routine. It can naturally help you to relax and unwind right before bed.
I am a fan of chamomile tea because it helps with muscle relaxation and induces sleep.
Other great options for sleepytime herbal teas are valerian tea, lavender tea, and passionfruit flower tea.
5. Blackout blinds
In order to get a good night’s rest, your room should be completely dark. Research has shown that light can increase the stress hormone cortisol, and suppress your sleep hormone melatonin, which can disrupt your natural circadian rhythm.
If you live in a very lit area like a city or have lights outside your window then adding black-out blinds to your window will help so much.
6. Sleep mask
If you don’t want to add blackout blinds or maybe you don’t have any windows in your room and you get artificial light from your digital alarm clock or any other sources then a sleep mask can be beneficial for you.
A sleep mask is another good way to block out light so you don’t disrupt your sleep hormones.
7. Essential Oil Diffuser
Using a diffuser in your room with essential oils like lavender, marjoram, and sandalwood can help to induce restful sleep. These essential oils have calming effects and can help you to relax.
Saje is a great natural wellness company that offers an incredible range of blends that they created especially for sleep.
Check out all of Saje Essential Oil Sleep Blends. They even have essential oil roll-ons and a restful ritual kit.
8. Red light
I know that above I mentioned that light affects your sleep but recent studies have shown that red light therapy can actually improve sleep quality and melatonin levels (the hormone that helps you sleep).
When choosing red light products, it’s important to choose products that emit red light wavelengths instead of bulbs that are simply tinted red.
9. A kindle or book
A lot of people like to read before bed and this is a great practice to have in your nighttime routine.
It can be calming and help you to wind down and it is way better than mindlessly scrolling on social media.
I recommend reading from a kindle or an actual paperback or hardcover book vs an iPad or your phone because it doesn’t give off that harmful blue light that you get from digital devices which can interfere with your melatonin (the hormone that makes you sleepy).
10. Weighted blanket
Weighted blankets are therapeutic blankets that can help to improve the overall quality of your sleep.
These blankets use deep pressure stimulation which can reduce stress hormone (cortisol) and increase your sleep hormone (melatonin).
Recent studies have shown that these blankets can also reduce anxiety, help with insomnia, and relieve symptoms of depression.
Final Thoughts
Creating a better sleep routine and even incorporating products to help you sleep better can lead to improved health and well-being.
A nighttime sleep routine does not have to be complicated and make you feel overwhelmed.
Just focus on a few things that you can implement into your sleep routine at a time and just find what works for you and your mind and body.
