Are you the type of person who tries to take on everything at once? You juggle many different responsibilities like your career, relationships, and self-care often feeling overwhelmed and stressed out.
Balance is something that a lot of people strive for in life.
Maintaining a healthy well-balanced life is essential for happiness and can help boost your productivity in business as well.
If you are looking for more balance in your life but you can’t seem to make it work for you, here are five reasons why you are struggling to find balance in your life.
How to Find Balance in Life
1. You haven’t clearly defined what balance means to you
I preach this all the time that balance is DIFFERENT for everyone. What may work for one person may not work for another.
We each have different responsibilities, jobs, relationships, and goals.
So, what you have to do is clearly define your idea of balance and what a balanced life will look like for you.
A great way to figure out what balance looks like is to you is by journaling your thoughts and feelings about it.
Reflect on the different areas of your life such as:
- Mental Health
- Physical Health
- Emotional
- Spiritual
- Social
- Environmental
- Financial
- Occupational
Examples of some journal prompts you can use are:
- What does having a well-balanced mind, body, and soul mean to me?
- How would my life look once I find balance?
- How can I go about achieving balance in the different areas of my life?
- When I think of balance I feel…
- A balanced life means to me…
Visualize how you would think and feel once you find balance in your life.
Once you define what balance looks like for you then you can align with that vision and strive towards it.

2. You aren’t practicing self-care often
The most important thing before taking care of your responsibilities should be taking care of yourself first.
If you aren’t taking time to take care of your mind, body, and soul then balance will always feel like it is out of reach.
When it comes to self-care a lot of people create constant excuses that they don’t have time for it. But, self-care is something that you should practice daily even it is for 5 minutes, that is better than nothing.

3. You don’t have self-discipline
Self-discipline is one of the best tools to keep yourself accountable.
Without having proper self-discipline we become lazy, procrastinate, and waste time. This often leads to overwhelm and feeling unbalanced.
Take some time to reflect on if you are feeling like you are lacking in self-discipline.
If you are, now think of ways that you can improve your self-discipline like organizing your to-do list better, eliminating distractions, and setting boundaries with yourself and others.
It’s okay to say no and not feel guilty about something you don’t want to do.
We have overstretched our personal boundaries and forgotten that true happiness comes from living an authentic life fueled with a sense of purpose and balance.

4. You are not consistent
Consistency is key especially when it comes to finding balance.
Think of it like this, you worked out every day for one week and then the next week you didn’t work out at all but instead slept in. Lack of consistency is one of the reasons you won’t achieve results and your life will feel like it is all over the place.
Consistency is not easy but it is important to be consistent in the areas of self-care, like eating healthy, working out, getting adequate sleep, and taking time to relax. These areas are important when it comes to your overall balance.

5. You don’t take time to plan and organize
Taking time to plan is a great way to ensure that you can take care of yourself and your business.
When you forget to plan out your tasks, events, etc. you can easily become overwhelmed.
Sundays are a great day to plan out your week. Brain dump all your appointments, projects, tasks, who you want to spend time with, and don’t forget what type of self-care you want to practice within the upcoming week. Then fill it out into your weekly schedule.
If you see this written out or in your schedule it will be easier for you not to feel overwhelmed and know what your focus should be geared towards that week.
Final Thoughts
I hope these tips help you to identify areas of your life that you may be struggling with to find balance.
Remember that creating balance is not a one-time thing, it is something you are constantly working on and improving as your priorities and responsibilities change in the different seasons of your life.
So, start with what balance looks like to you, practicing self-care, self-discipline, consistency, and planning. That way, you will take care of yourself and what is important to you.
